The collaboration between Patelco Credit Union and Sprinkles Cupcake Bakery has resulted in an exciting and innovative commercial retail space at the Bishop Ranch City Center Shopping Mall in San Ramon, California. This unique project, spanning approximately 5,452 square feet, showcases the seamless integration of financial services and culinary delights under one roof. At the heart of this venture, AE3 took the reins as the Architect of Record and Project Managers, orchestrating every facet of the transformation from concept to reality.

The project's core objective was to create a dynamic and cohesive space that could accommodate the diverse needs of both Patelco Credit Union and Sprinkles Cupcake Bakery. The space was meticulously designed to blend the practical requirements of a CALGreen-compliant commercial kitchen, comfortable office spaces, efficient point of service counters, and essential back-of-house facilities.

In addition to the kitchen, the project encompassed the creation of thoughtfully designed office spaces, ensuring that Patelco Credit Union's financial services could be efficiently administered within the shared space. This approach not only maximized the utilization of the available square footage but also encouraged collaboration between the two distinct businesses.

Furthermore, the back-of-house area was designed to support the daily operations of both businesses. This space accommodates restrooms, storage facilities, and a shared community area. The community area was designed to offer café and lounge seating, creating a welcoming environment for patrons to relax and enjoy their treats or conduct financial transactions in a comfortable setting.

The success of this project can be attributed to the "turn key" approach taken by the project team. From the initial conceptualization phase to space planning, interior design, construction document creation, contractor selection, value engineering, and finally, construction management, every step was meticulously managed and executed. This level of attention to detail ensured that the project progressed smoothly, adhering to timelines and budgets, resulting in a truly exceptional space.
