Meet Raul Higuera, AE3 Job Captain!
Raul graduated in 2020 from the Academy of Art Institute with a Bachelor in Architectural Design. His professional experience includes residential renovations and civic work. Raul wasn’t initially interested in architecture, but his discovery of Shigeru Ban and learning how architecture can help disaster relief efforts and homelessness helped him realize his interest in the field.
Raul is passionate about urban development and sustainability, something he’s been able to explore further during his time with us. He shares that his ideal project would give back to under-privileged communities or those who have suffered loss due to natural disasters. Throughout his professional career, he has been able to draw inspiration from Diébédo Francis Kéré’s work as he inspires to use his skills to build stronger, more sustainable environments for low-income communities.
Raul has lived along the west coast his entire life. Born in Los Angeles, growing up in Gresham, Oregon, and living briefly in San Diego, he has finally settled down in San Francisco. His hobbies include gaming, coffee and espresso drinking/making, and on the weekends, he enjoys going to the farmers market with his wife and dog, Chiko.
